Recall that the work was carried out within the framework of the “Development of ABAI information system” project.

Rustam Aldangorov, Module Head, has already presented a report on KMGE’s work in 2021-2023 to the module’s key users at the end of March.

B. Batyrgaliyev, Deputy Director of the Drilling and Well Workover Department, B. Amanturliyev, Head of the Well Drilling Department, and M. Assayev, Head of the Well Workover and Drilling Department, took part in the working meeting at the company’s head office in Astana.

Most fields in Kazakhstan, including the Mangistau region, are known to be in late stages of operation, with difficulties in maintaining reservoir pressure, changing the borehole corridor (collapse and absorption pressure gradients), and other factors complicating field development and affecting the well construction process. During a joint meeting, MMG colleagues addressed these concerns to KMGE Online Drilling Service.

Besides, the parties discussed the pressing issue of the need to increase the oil recovery factor and the maximum recovery of hydrocarbon reserves in the fields of near and far abroad, where currently the drilling of horizontal and multilateral wells has been successfully implemented. This process has piqued the interest of a number of domestic subsoil users. Indeed, Embamunaigas JSC has previous experience in this field, having drilled horizontal wells all year round with positive results.

“The variable success of horizontal wells drilled in the Mangistau region demonstrates the need to develop skills in selecting well locations and evaluating potential production rates,” KMG Engineering representatives say.

The meeting ended with an agreement on the need to develop capacity and strengthen cooperation in this area within the KMG group of companies.
