On September 16 and 17, well-known experts of Oil & Gas Industry from around the world gathered to discuss and find solutions to the problem of applying chemical EOR methods in the late stage of development.

The Conference is aimed at the urgent need to find opportunities and ways of technology development in the application of Chemical Enhanced Oil Recovery (CEOR).

Bakhytzhan Khassanov, General Director and Chairman of the Management Board of KMG Engineering, welcomed the participants. He noted that the majority of domestic oil fields are currently in late development, with high water cut of production and deteriorating structure of remaining recoverable reserves.

“CEOR has a wide range of applications and high efficiency indicators, implying that it has great prospects and potential for implementation in oil and gas fields. Since 2014, one of the highly effective chemical methods for increasing oil recovery – Polymer Waterflooding – has been successfully implemented at our fields. For instance, the Kalamkas and Zaburunye fields are already transitioning to the industrial implementation of this method,” the head of KMG Engineering reported.

However, polymer flooding and alkali-surfactant-polymer flooding technologies for the Uzen field are currently undergoing laboratory efficiency evaluation, which requires the use of advanced laboratory equipment using the world’s best practices and research methods.

Currently, representatives of major Oil Companies, Leading Research Institutes and Universities from several countries – France, Serbia, Russian Federation, and others – are participating in the conference. More than 70 companies, more than 80 offline and 150 online participants are registered in total.

Their reports present the results of analytical, laboratory, oil and gas field work at various stages of evaluating the applicability and implementation of chemical EOR technologies, as well as the outcomes of modern scientific, technological, and production processes in this area, as well as modern innovative approaches to scientific research and best production practices in technology implementation. A number of the authors’ articles are devoted to the topic of chemical EOR modeling.

The event today and tomorrow will bring together major Kazakh and Foreign Oil Production and Service Companies, developers and manufacturers of specialized chemicals and equipment for CEOR projects, representatives of research institutes and a number of universities.
