An international round table was held in Atyrau Branch of KMG Engineering

The event brought together recognized experts on topical issues of the reservoir pressure maintenance system arrangement in low-permeability triassic fields”

Malik Salimgereev, General Director of KMG Engineering, addressed the participants, representatives of a number of international companies and scientific organizations from near and far abroad, with a welcoming speech.

He noted that currently the share of low-permeability reservoirs is at least half of the world’s proven reserves. Currently, there are more than 30 oil fields in commercial development in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and their reserves are partially or fully concentrated in hard-to-recover reserves of Triassic deposits.

“The Triassic deposits development may involve a number of difficulties: extremely low permeability, large occurrence depths, lithological heterogeneity of the reservoir, uncontained oil-saturated thickness, low phase permeability, and low reservoir porosity and permeability.  Together, these difficulties make it impossible to develop without the use of additional basic mining methods, including the RPM system arrangement, which is one of the urgent tasks of the Triassic deposits development,” emphasized the head of KMGE.

In his opinion, in the current conditions, the main task is to solve the issues of waterflooding of low-permeability reservoirs of the fields. In this regard, the solution of the RPM system arrangement issues and improving the efficiency of the development of the fields under consideration is seen through the use of improved technologies, which are discussed by experts at the last round table.
